Boating

Cruise, ski, kayak, and paddle across 650 acres of clear Sierra water.

Jenkinson Lake is one of the finest boating lakes in the El Dorado foothills. With 650 acres of open water and roughly eight miles of pine-lined shoreline, there is room to cruise, water ski, wakeboard, sail, kayak, or simply drift and soak up the sun.

Launch at one of two concrete ramps (see the park map for locations). The main body of the lake opens up for skiing and towing, while calmer zones keep swim areas and docks safe. Boating rules follow California law and are strictly enforced.

Rules of the Water

  • Two concrete launch ramps for easy in and out
  • Maximum speed 35 mph; travel pattern is counter-clockwise
  • 5 mph within 200 feet of swim areas, docks, ramps, and shoreline
  • No personal watercraft — jet skis and Sea-Doos are not allowed
  • No pets or diapers in the water, per state drinking-water law

Non-motorized boat and paddleboard rentals are available seasonally from Current Adventures at the Stonebraker dock, generally Friday through Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Golden mussel inspections (new for 2025): trailered and motorized boats must be inspected and tagged before launching to keep invasive golden mussels out of the lake. Check inspection times first at EID.org/Boating. A day-use and boat launch fee also applies.
